    • A bear cub showed up on Dogwood Mountain at 6:05 this morning stayed until 7:24 and then was back again at 10:20 (or a cub that sure looked like him)! He certainly was a hungry little guy; if he keeps eating like that he'll grow up to be as big as Big Ben! Another cub showed up on Hidden Pond about 6:55. I guess these cubs like to get an early start on breakfast! Bless his little heart, I don't know if he was sick or just hot and tired but he ate for just a little while then he just laid his little chin on the edge of the feeder and rested for a while.

I was following a few turkeys around on Upper Springs about 8:55 and they were really close to the camera. One kept going behind it a little and then jerking her head back. So I checked it out and it was a Timber Rattler just behind the camera. Surprised She kept messing with him and he finally came out and crawled to the big tree right by him. He crawled way up the trunk of that tree but only stayed there for a minute then crawled back down and to the next closest tree. He then checked it out and I guess he was not impressed because he came right back down and went behind the camera and under a log lying on the ground. Didn't find him after that but we will!

The smaller Momma Bear and babies were on Fossil Ridge at about 10 this morning. The cubs were certainly doing a lot of playing and all three of them took off into the grass while Momma Bear was still eating. They played a little and then went off into the woods so Momma went looking for them. She was at the place where they had gone into the woods and I don't know if she heard something or what but she took off running further down from there! I was really getting worried whether they had found each other again when they showed back up at Fossil Ridge about 20 minutes later; all 4 happily together again! Smile

Bears were in and out of Upper Springs, Dogwood Mountain, Hidden Pond, and Fossil Ridge all day! There was a Great Blue Heron, Green Heron, Killdeer, Wood Ducks, etc. at bird point and deer, turkeys, squirrels and raccoons were seen sometime today at almost all of the cameras.

    • Between 6:30 and 7:00 am Bird Point had wood ducks swimming, Deer Run had several squirrels and a few deer, Hidden Pond had turkeys and several squirrels, a bear cub was eating at Fossil Ridge with a Blue Grosbeak in the feeder beside him, Lost Field also had a bear cub lying in the feeder enjoying breakfast, Turkey Hollow had deer, a raccoon and a crow, Upper Springs had a few squirrels and there were several crows at Dogwood Mountain and who knows, maybe Monty is hiding out there somewhere. All in all, a pretty good start to the morning. At 7:18 the bear cub on Fossil Ridge took off like lightning and in walked a HUGE bear, maybe Big Ben but not sure. The big bear sniffed around (guess he smelled the cub) but then he just went back to the feeder and started eating. He seemed really nervous while he was there and almost ran off a couple of times but finally at 7:36 he got up went to where the cub had been and sniffed around again then he left! I don't know what he had to be nervous about, as big as he was; who knows, maybe he was just a little cub at heart.Innocent

Big Momma and her three cubs were out early this morning. They were spotted around 1am at Dogwood Mountain and then again at 7:45 am. At first we were worried about the other cub because for quite awhile we only saw 2 but he finally came out from under the feeder and boy were they having themselves a good time! A few minutes later one of the older cubs sauntered into Hidden Pond, sat down and began eating his breakfast. After he was there for about an hour, he got up and went around the pond to the right and got a drink of water. He kept acting like he was going in for a swim but I guess it seemed too deep or something because he kept backing back out then he left. Seconds later another cub was back on Lost Field! He stayed for about 30 minutes before he took off running from who knows what!

Wow! Surprised Hope you all got a chance to see Lost Field's acrobatic squirrel! He was in the downed tree and was hanging upside down from his feet! He would pull himself up for a second and then swing back down. He had something he was eating and I guess he liked to eat upside down! At first I thought it was a bat; hmmm...guess they are related, now that I think about it. It was hilarious to watch him anyway! Did anyone see the coyote at Upper Springs this evening? He looked pretty young but he was alone so maybe just small. He didn't stay but a second before running off, scared.

Bird Point had several Killdeer running back and forth on the point this morning and the Wood Ducks were all out in the lake swimming or resting on the log. A little later a Great Blue Heron was walking the shore searching for some tasty morsels before he flew off into the great blue sky. Wink

Birds seen or heard today were Tufted Titmouse, White-eyed Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Indigo Bunting, Northern Cardinal, Blue Grosbeak, and Mourning Dove.

    • Sometime between 6:30 and 7:00 this morning, there were 2 bear cubs; one was at Hidden Pond and the other at Lost Field. At Bird Point we heard turkeys gobbling and ducks were resting on the log in the lake. I could hear several birds singing on Fossil Ridge; wish I had the ability to identify them by the sound they make and the song they sing but alas, not yet. Dogwood Mountain had a couple of crows and a squirrel and somewhere unbeknownst to us, Monty (we hope). Turkey Hollow had several deer, 2 turkeys, a few squirrels and a couple of Mourning Doves. Upper Springs had squirrels and crows and Deer Run had several squirrels at the feeder, birds singing, Pedro crowing and of course, deer, many, many deer. Needless to say, it was a very busy beginning to our wonderful day!

A little later, something scared both the cubs away but the one at Hidden Pond came back. He was scared away over and over and kept coming back! Finally, another cub came in and joined him and they were ok for a minute but when one started over to the other side of the feeder, the other cub ran off. The first cub just stood there a minute then he ran off too but came back again in just a couple minutes. At 7:50 am another bigger cub showed up at Dogwood Mountain but he also was scared away after only 5 minutes.

A doe and 2 fawns walked through Bird Point this morning on the left bank of the lake and a beaver and a box turtle took their turns taking a walk around the point. Four turkeys made a sweep through Hidden Pond and stopped for a few minutes for a bite to eat. They even shared their breakfast with a Blue Jay for a minute or two. Turkeys were also seen at Upper Springs today and of course, the two gobblers at Turkey Hollow hung around most all day! At one point a wasp or bee or something of the sort flew right into one of them and he jumped straight up into the air! Laughing The two were joined by a couple more and one of them was really strutting and gobbling this afternoon!

We also had bear cubs at Fossil Ridge several times today. A Momma bear and 3 babies made an appearance on Lost Field a couple times today. This is a different Momma and babies than we've been seeing because these are all small including the Momma bear and the other family; the momma is huge and the babies are bigger too. So we definitely have at the very least, two bear families with 3 cubs!

WooHoo!! We had a bobcat at Hidden Pond this afternoon! It seems he crawled under the feeder and came out chasing something; wonder if he caught it? It's such a treat when we get to see one and I hate that I missed seeing him. Frown

Birds not already mentioned above which were seen or heard today were Chipping Sparrows, Brown-headed Cowbirds, Indigo Buntings, Cardinals, Orchard Orioles, Red-winged Blackbirds, Crows, Black Vultures, and Blue Grosbeaks. After changing to the night settings, we were able to see many lightning bugs flashing their lights for us on Lost Field!

    • First thing this morning I saw turkeys, deer and squirrels on Hidden Pond; a bear cub on Lost Field, a Momma bear and 3 cubs on Dogwood Mountain, and deer on Deer Run! We also had turkeys on Turkey Hollow most of the day again today. Raccoons and deer were in and out of most feeders today and squirrels were everywhere! There were several (7 last count) that were playing commando today. They were lying flat on their bellies and crawling around like that! It was really funny but I'm afraid they might have been frightened about something and that could have been why they were doing it. Don't know for sure; just a guess. Maybe they were afraid that a hawk was going to swoop down and get them! Anyone have any ideas why they would be doing this? Undecided

Wow! Did everyone see those really good looking (and very hard working I might add) kiddos on Dogwood Mountain today? They, along with their daddy did a really good job cleaning up around the place! We might be able to find Monty a little easier now although we didn't get lucky enough to find him today. I'm just glad Monty didn't find them while they were working! Surprised

Bears were seen on several cameras again today; Hidden Pond, Lost Field, Dogwood Mountain, Upper Springs and Fossil Ridge.

A Green Heron was at Bird Point today catching fish and bugs. Guess he liked to mix it up a bit! We also saw a Great Blue Heron for a little while and a couple of Killdeer out on the big island. We saw the black duck along with several Wood Ducks. We actually saw a couple of wood ducks on Turkey Hollow too! At 8:30 tonight just before it was too dark to see I found a 3 toed box turtle on Upper Springs. I followed him around for a bit and at one time he was burrowing himself down in a pile of leaves. I don't know if he was looking for food or a hiding place or what he was doing!

    • Bird Point had a Kingfisher for a while today. He caught a fish and how strange to watch him try to bang the poor fish up against the limb before he started eating! A Great Blue Heron also made an appearance for a little while and seemed to be drying his wings out!

We spotted a Downy Woodpecker at Hidden Pond today. We don't get a chance to see them very often. I believe this was probably the 3rd sighting and all three were on Hidden Pond! He's a very evasive little guy! We had turkeys at Turkey Hollow and Upper Springs today. A couple of them on Turkey Hollow were strutting and gobbling again! I sure will be glad to see the baby turkeys when they ever decide to start bringing them out.

Bears were spotted at Hidden Pond, Upper Springs, Dogwood Mountain, and Lost Field today multiple times each! The bears are certainly getting out and about now! We are even privileged with seeing the Momma bears and their three little cubs sometimes 2 and 3 times a day now as opposed to the once ever couple of weeks for a while. They have certainly grown in the last couple of months! Talk about growing; it's amazing how all the fawns are growing so fast on Deer Run! It seems we still have more that haven't been born yet too though so we still have that to look forward to as well!

A couple of things I forgot to mention in my weekend blog was my very first rabbit sighting which was late at night on Fossil Ridge and also seen late at night was the opossum sighting at Lost Field! I know they've both been seen before at USeeWildlife.com but these were my first sightings so thought I'd mention them! Laughing

    • Woohoo!! I finally found Monty at 8:23 Friday morning, after he had been gone for two days! He was way in the back and to the right curled up under another tree and just to the left of the camera! We watched him for being taunted by a Wren that kept landing above him on the tree but just out of reach. He stayed until 12:22 and then slithered off behind the camera.

Bears were seen on so many cameras multiple times this weekend; Hidden Pond, Upper Springs, Dogwood Mountain, Lost Field and Fossil Ridge. At one time the Momma Bear and 3 babies were playing and eating and one of the babies was under the feeder while another was in the feeder. The one in the feeder kept peeking over and under at the other cub and falling out on his/her head! Cub was hiding under the feeder and then ambushing Momma or another cub when they walked by! They were having such a good time! I get such a kick out of watching those little babies!

We were lucky enough to see a Momma raccoon and 3 babies a couple times this weekend! They are so cute! We also got to see a fox on Upper Springs and Hidden Pond; probably two different foxes but not sure. Turkey Hollow had the gobbler there a couple times this weekend and he was sure strutting and gobbling!

    • Hidden Pond was a little busy today! One of the bear cubs was one of the many visitors and even took a swim! I guess he had to cool off some way! We had another box turtle and our camera operator did a great job following him around. He was a cute little thing but he took off into the brush pile, never to be seen again! We even had hummingbirds; beautiful busy little hummingbirds! WooHoo!! It was 7:43 pm and I found the snake coiled up under the feeder! I think they've all decided that he's Monty's brother! He had a raccoon checking him out at a safe distance but it didn't keep him from opening his mouth really wide in anticipation! He stayed right there until a little after nine then he slithered off into the darkness.

The Great Blue Heron was on Bird Point this morning. He caught one little fish over by the beaver lodge and then flew to the point and went fishing again but alas, this time he didn't catch a single thing. He did a pretty good job of grooming himself though and at one point he was holding his wings out at a very funny angle. Guess he'd gotten them wet and was letting them dry! I love to watch him!

We've been searching for Monty all day long and just haven't had any luck. I hope he didn't go somewhere else where we won't be able to watch him anymore! Dogwood Mountain is a very lonely place without him; well, until Big Ben came in this afternoon! I think it was Big Ben anyway; it was certainly a BIG bear! He stayed around for quite some time.

The huge Momma bear and three wee ones were on Fossil Ridge this afternoon but there wasn't too much frolicking going on this time; I guess it was just too hot! A couple of the cubs did get on the ground and play for a minute or two and one of them was lying down on his back in the feeder and goofing around a bit! They are absolutely precious! We also had one of the older cubs here earlier today and he hung around for quite awhile! Late in the evening Momma and babies showed up at Dogwood Mountain and I believe they were more playful this time and then one of the older cubs showed up a little later at Lost Field for a late night snack.

    • Monty, a huge Timber Rattler, was stretched out on a tree at Dogwood Mountain and ready to go first thing this morning! He was at the tree with the two vines running all the way down it, on the right of the feeder and stayed there for quite some time until around 1:47 when he moved to the weeds to the right of the tree and stayed hidden from view for several hours. He eventually made his way back to the same tree in the afternoon. I'm beginning to wonder if he'll ever get something to eat! A bear cub came in on him about 7:53 this morning and stayed for about 20 minutes but it never even fazed Monty. Then about 4:42 this afternoon another bear came in, huge bear, maybe even Big Ben but not sure and still no reaction from Monty. Finally, late this evening, Monty just took off, completely out of the camera's range! I certainly hope he returns by morning!

Bears spotted today were the Momma with the three cubs on Fossil Ridge, one of the cubs on Lost Field, another cub on Upper Springs, and of course, all the bears that showed up on Dogwood Mountain!

At Hidden Pond we saw some turkeys, deer, lots of squirrels and a few raccoons. There was also a Gray Fox seen today, twice, actually and the last time it was when he had found a snake! Yes, another Timber Rattler and this time on Hidden Pond! They think he may be as big as or bigger than Monty!

We saw several birds on Fossil Ridge feeder this evening; 3 Mourning Doves, 4 Blue Grosbeaks and a female Cardinal and then later we got to see a Momma Raccoon with her sweet babies! Birds seen or heard on Turkey Hollow feeder or elsewhere today were; Carolina Chickadee, Carolina Wren, Kentucky Warbler, White-eyed and Red-eyed Vireos, Summer Tanager, Indigo Bunting, Red-winged Blackbird, Brown-headed Cowbirds, Chipping Sparrow, Eastern Bluebird, Green Heron, and Red-shoulder Hawk. Oh and let's not forget Eastern Wild Turkey gobblers! Smile Oh and a new butterfly, the Red Admiral, was seen today on Lost Field!

YOU WILL SEE ACTION!!! GUARANTEED!!! Wildlife sighted at USeeWildlife.com so far are Black Bears, Brown Bears, Foxes, Skunk, White Deer, White-tail Deer, Fox and Gray Squirrels, Chipmunks, Bobcats, Coyotes, Raccoons, Opossum, Armadillo, Cougar, Timber Rattlesnakes, and many types of birds.

    • Started out that Mr. Monty, the over 6 foot Timber Rattler on Dogwood Mountain was missing!! He had gone into hiding over night, I guess, and he could not be found! Finally, at 1:41 this afternoon, I found him in the bushes! Whew, what a relief, we were so worried that he'd got something to eat and left for good! We actually lost him again for a little while because of a little blip on our camera but found him again and had him after that until dark. He had a couple of near misses too; or I guess you could say a bear and a chipmunk did! I guess the bear almost stepped on him or something but Monty warned him to get away! As for the chipmunk, I watched the video and looked at the photos and I just can't tell if Monty got him or not! I guess he must not have because he never left to go eat him! Very first time I see a chipmunk on here and Monty tries to eat him! Millions of squirrels running around and he picks on our only chipmunk! Well, I'm sure he's not our ONLY chipmunk but he's certainly the first one I've seen since I've been on here! Looks as if he probably got away though! Laughing

Bears (including Momma and 3 babies) were seen on Lost Field, Dogwood Mountain, Fossil Ridge and Upper Springs today. A fox was seen on Hidden Pond and later Upper Springs as well as a Three-toed Box Turtle. I followed the turtle around for several minutes. He got tangled up in some branches or briers or something and couldn't get out for a couple minutes but he kept backing up and going forward and turning sideways until he finally broke loose! He was a smart little guy!

We saw Bobcoon on Hidden Pond for a little while today! Of course, we saw several other Raccoons as well but Bobcoon is our resident bob-tailed raccoon. Must have got that way in a fight or maybe he was born that way; who knows...

There was a doe grazing on the point at Bird Point this morning and then this evening there were several along with one fawn! Pretty sight... The beaver was out on the island doing a little grazing of his own this evening. He's getting to be a little braver all the time! We saw a White-breasted Nuthatch on Dogwood Mountain today while searching for Monty! A couple of fawns were lying in the tall weeds with a buck this afternoon on Deer Run. It was so cute; looked like Papa Deer was babysitting!

    • Ok, so has everyone been waiting and watching for Monty, the huge Timber Rattler on Dogwood Mountain to finally get himself something to eat? It has to be his first meal for at least a week and who knows how long before we started watching him? I found him this morning at 7:11 on a brand new tree on the right side of the feeder; we've never seen him over there before! I don't know how long he was there before I found him but he moved to the tree on the left side of the feeder around 9:00 and then at 9:37 he moved into the bushes for a short nap but in less than 30 minutes was back at the tree again! He certainly has determination if nothing else!

The huge Momma bear with the precocious 3 babies has been coming out a lot more lately! We saw them at Dogwood Mountain and Lost Field today! We also saw one of the older cubs at Lost Field and he climbed the big tree at the end of field and played in it for a few minutes! A huge bear was spotted on Dogwood Mountain today, also but don't know if it was Big Ben or not.

The turkey gobblers were back at Turkey Hollow again today and this evening we saw several raccoons in and around the feeder enjoying a late night snack with a few deer. Well they were until the mean little doe showed up and chased everything away! A fox showed up at 10:38 pm on Upper Springs and then at 11:34 there were 2 foxes!

Bird Point had many Wood Ducks, the mysterious black duck, oh and there were a couple of beavers really close to the camera a little after 10 pm! Check out the close-ups Malvin posted on Bird Point June #1!

The fawns are all so precious on Deer Run and we have noticed that there are still a few does that haven't had their babies yet. Guess we need to keep watching for them!

A few birds seen or heard today were Blue Grosbeak, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Red-eyed Vireo, Eastern Wood Pewee, Kentucky Warbler, Summer Tanager, Orchard Oriole, Chipping Sparrow, Mourning Doves, Red-winged Blackbirds, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Indigo Buntings, Brown-headed Cowbirds, and of course the ever present Crows!
