Momma Bear and her 3 sweet babies were out at 6:13 this morning at Hidden Pond! No wonder those babies fell asleep while they were eating yesterday!! The Opossum showed up in the wee hours of the morning at Dogwood Mountain along with several Raccoons! One of the bear cubs was at Upper Springs at around 8 this morning and he was so tired he just lay down on the ground to rest for a bit before he resumed eating. Another cub showed up at Fossil Ridge later and around 6:20 this evening a huge bear decided he was ready for a quick snack; I wouldn't be surprised if it was Big Ben he was so big!
Upper Springs and Hidden Pond had several turkeys today and so did Turkey Hollow as well as several deer, squirrels, crows and raccoons which have also been at most of the cameras at some time or other today. Has anyone noticed how fast the little fawns are growing at Deer Run? Not only the fawns are growing; have you seen some of the antlers? Wow! Can you believe all the Wood Ducks that are hanging around Bird Point lately? I guess a bunch of them are the young ducks from this year's hatchlings; if I understood right. I can't believe how fast they grow! One thing I've been wondering is why we haven't seen any young turkeys yet? Anyone know how long before young turkeys start venturing out for us all to see?Today's birds (besides Wood Ducks and Eastern Wild Turkeys) were Indigo Bunting, Northern Cardinal, Brown-headed Cowbird, Red-winged Blackbird, White-eyed Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Blue Jay, American Crow, Chipping Sparrow, Eastern Wood Pewee and Mourning Dove.
YOU WILL SEE ACTION!!! GUARANTEED!!! Wildlife sighted at USeeWildlife.com so far are Black Bears, Brown Bears, Gray Foxes, Skunk, White Deer, White-tail Deer, Fox and Gray Squirrels, Chipmunks, Bobcats, Coyotes, Raccoons, Opossum, Armadillo, Cougar and Rabbits.
Water and shore birds seen so far are Melanistic or Hybrid Mallard/Black Duck, Snow Geese, Trumpeter Swans, Canada Geese, Mallard, Wood Ducks, Ringneck Ducks, Wigeon, American Coot, Gadwall, Ringbills, Pintail Duck, Canvasback Duck, Green-winged Teal, Pied-billed Grebe, Goldeneye Duck, Little Blue Heron, Great Blue Heron, Green Heron, Sand Piper, Killdeer, Osprey, Belted Kingfisher, Cattle Egrets and Great Egret.
Woodpeckers spotted to date are Downy, Red-headed, Pileated, Red-bellied, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Northern Flicker.
Birds of Prey and larger birds seen so far are Bald and Golden Eagles, Eastern Wild Turkeys, Great Horned Owls, Double-Crested Cormorants, Black and Turkey Vultures, Cooper's Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk and Red-tailed Hawk.

We started off the day with Momma Bear and 3 babies at Lost Field and another bear at Upper Springs! Deer were grazing at Bird Point and one of them chased all the ducks back into the water when they came out onto the point. There were actually lots of Wood Ducks there this morning and then this evening they were everywhere! It's been a long time since I've seen that many ducks at one time and a little later they were joined by a few deer! We saw some type of shorebird on the small island this afternoon but not sure what it was. Bears were in and out of several cameras today! At one time, while on Dogwood Mountain, the little cubs fell asleep in the feeder! It was so precious! There was a couple of Opossums at Fossil Ridge very late and they even had a little argument it seems!
Hidden Pond had an absolutely gorgeous Bobcat come in and stayed for close to 30 minutes which is very unusual. He kept circling the feeder and going to one spot. I believe the snake was under there, we just couldn't see him but the Bobcat sure could and kept going back to him to check him out! If you missed it check out Eiguoc's photos of him on the Hidden Pond July page!

Amazing! You chase them around trying to get just one good shot of them and then all of a sudden, what do you see; not one but TWO Pileated Woodpeckers on a log at Upper Springs first thing this morning! They stayed around, in and out for probably close to an hour! The Cottontail Rabbit was back at Fossil Ridge this morning. One of the bear cubs was eating breakfast at Hidden Pond and stayed there for over 2 hours! At 9 am Turkey Hollow had several turkeys, the momma raccoons with 3 babies, another raccoon, a lone doe, a squirrel and on the bird feeder, a couple of chipping sparrows and a male and female Indigo Bunting then just a few minutes later several deer including 3 nice size bucks joined them! One of the cubs showed up at Fossil Ridge and stayed for awhile when he suddenly got scared and ran off so I checked what he was scared of and another cub was coming in from the other end to take his place! They were in and out of Fossil Ridge most of the day. Momma Bear and 3 cubs showed up at Dogwood Mountain around 11 or so this morning. It was getting pretty close to noon when I found a Red-shouldered Hawk messing around under the bird feeder at Turkey Hollow; not sure what he was doing unless he was after one of the smaller birds that hang around there. He wasn't there but a minute or so before he flew away but then we saw him a little while later. One little bird, I believe a sparrow, was taking a dirt bath at Lost Field this evening and it was so cute to watch him! Deer were grazing on the point at Bird Point this evening. Hidden Pond had a Timber Rattler under the feeder this evening at 8:15! Hopefully he'll still be there in the morning!
Birds seen or heard today were Northern Cardinals, Indigo Buntings, Goldfinches, Pileated Woodpeckers, Chipping Sparrows, Mourning Doves, Red-winged Blackbird, Brown-headed Cowbird, American Crows, Red-shouldered Hawk, Blue Jays, Killdeer and of course the Wood Ducks on Hidden Pond and Bird Point.

WOW! Molly started off the day with a bang! She had already struck at a squirrel before 7 this morning! For those who don't know; Molly is a Timber Rattler we've been watching at Upper Springs for several days. The deer were walking over the top of her all morning and then at 7:23 Molly struck and missed again! Lucky squirrels we have around here! You should have seen the one brave (or goofy) little squirrel come up behind Molly sniffing and checking her out but Molly must not have been set up right because she didn't even strike at him; however, at 8:09 she did strike at a squirrel AGAIN and missed AGAIN!
Poor Molly must be starving but seems quite determined. Shortly after 9:00 one of the bigger cubs came into Upper Springs and parked his little self right in front of where Molly was hiding! Don't get me wrong, I love, love, love the bears; they are probably my favorite animal but wish he would have moved to the other side of the feeder so I could keep a good eye on Molly! Later in the afternoon, Molly moved again but it was between the two rocks again; the same place she was yesterday evening.Momma Bear and her 3 sweet babies visited Hidden Pond at 8:22 for breakfast this morning. We had bears at Fossil Ridge and Dogwood Mountain at the same time for quite awhile. Turkeys were at Hidden Pond for a little while and deer were in and out of several cameras today. Oh, my goodness; there were two families of raccoons on Turkey Hollow this evening! One Momma had 5 babies the other had 3 and they were all so precious!! It is such a riot watching the babies!!

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!! See you Monday!!

A fox was having himself a good breakfast with a deer at the same feeder, no less, while Molly was waiting patiently for her breakfast just a few steps away. Sometime between 6:30 and 7:00 this morning, Momma Bear and her 3 little cubs were at Dogwood Mountain, a couple deer, a Blue Grosbeak, and a Northern Cardinal were on Fossil Ridge, 2 really nice size bucks were at Turkey Hollow, a raccoon was at Hidden Pond, a squirrel was at Lost Field, Wood Ducks were either swimming or resting on the log in the lake at Bird Point and some deer were grazing on the point, several deer were out and about at Deer Run enjoying breakfast with a squirrel or two and Molly, the Timber Rattler was curled up at the bottom of a tree waiting for breakfast at Upper Springs.
Turkey Hollow was a busy place a little later this morning; there were several turkeys and deer including a doe with 2 fawns! At about the same time a doe and her fawn were grazing at the far end of Fossil Ridge. A little later I was watching all the turkeys at the far end of the field at Turkey Hollow and in walks a doe, right down the middle of all the turkeys! One or more of the bear cubs have been in and out of Dogwood Mountain all day and the squirrels are going crazy at Hidden Pond; we counted 15 at one time! A bear was at Upper Springs for quite awhile this evening and Momma Bear and her 3 cubs showed up at Hidden Pond again just before 9 tonight.
Today's birds we've either seen or heard are Mourning Doves, American Crows, Northern Cardinals, Indigo Buntings, American Goldfinch, White-eyed Vireo, Brown-headed Cowbirds, Red-winged Blackbirds, Blue Grosbeaks, Chipping Sparrows, and there was a bird at Bird Point that I haven't a clue what he was! :o)
Whoa!! Molly struck at a squirrel a little after 8 this morning but she struck to the side instead of up the tree so we couldn't see it real well. Good thing it was recording! We don't think she did but who knows? It was very exciting though! Molly had another visitor this morning at around 8:45; a coyote came in for just a couple minutes! She decided it was time to change spots around 12:30 and had just got all situated and coiled up when a very little, extremely curious bear cub came in out of nowhere and was sniffing Molly and checking her out! Molly being the very nice snake that she is, just ignored the cub and he finally left her alone to join his siblings and Mom at the feeder. Thanks Molly for not biting the baby! :o) Molly was lost for a while today! She was by the feeder the whole time though, we just couldn't see her. We finally found her though and even got to see her strike at a passing woodpecker! WooHoo!!
YOU WILL SEE ACTION!!! GUARANTEED!!!

First thing this morning, Molly, the Timber Rattler was still at Upper Springs, all curled up at the bottom of the tree, ready for a yummy little squirrel to come within striking distance! It was great to see she was still there when we tuned in! A couple of deer came pretty close to her at one time and I'm not sure they ever noticed she was there. A little later in the morning, the squirrels started squealing and the crows were screeching and shortly after we saw a squirrel coming down the tree towards Molly. He eventually turned back around and went back up but I bet not before he got close enough to make Molly's mouth water from anticipation!

A bear cub was at Hidden Pond this morning and when he got tired of eating, he just laid down right where he was at! Bless his little heart, he was a tired baby but he took him a good little rest and then got up and started eating again! When he left a couple of Wood Ducks showed up for a few minutes and then several turkeys came in! One of the bear cubs showed up at Lost Field later in the morning. He was lying in the feeder, stuffing his pretty little face! Sometime after the mowing was finished on Fossil Ridge one of the cubs showed up for a little late lunch and again in the afternoon. Momma and babies came in for a little while too.
At Bird Point Whitetail Deer were grazing on the point; what a pretty picture watching deer grazing with the lake in the background and ducks on the log in the lake! If that weren't enough the Great Blue Heron showed up on the island a few minutes later.
Turkey Hollow had several turkeys roaming around this morning! Guess they're eating bugs when they're out in the grass like that. I just love the 5 sweet little baby raccoons that showed up later with Momma Raccoon. The bird feeder, throughout the day, had Indigo Buntings, Northern Cardinals, Brown-headed Cowbirds, Red-winged Blackbirds, American Crows, Mourning Doves and Chipping Sparrows and birds heard or seen elsewhere were Kentucky Warblers, Barn Swallows and Blue Grosbeak. Wow, did you see the doves all over the bird feeder? It took them a long time to find it but once they did, they ALL did!

It was a little after noon when Molly decided she wanted to move so we followed her over to the feeder. She looked as if she was going under it but we believe she went just under the edge and all the way up, just where we couldn't see her. A squirrel came up close to the feeder at the right top corner a little later and kept acting really curious but cautious so there's a big possibility that Molly had moved to the back end of the feeder. Just a few minutes later we found her coiling up just under the edge of the front end so she'd moved once again. That's where she stayed for quite awhile; even when the deer and bear came very, very close, she still stayed there. Well, she did touch the bear's foot but that's as far as it went. Finally, she moved to a tree in the evening and that's where she was when it got dark. Hope she's still there in the morning!

At Deer Run several deer and a squirrel were out eating breakfast between 6:30 to 7:00 this morning as a Woodpecker was drumming away in the woods. A little doe was enjoying her breakfast on Upper Springs as a squirrel climbed down a tree beside her. A squirrel and a Northern Cardinal were at the feeder on Hidden Pond and the frogs were singing in the background then just seconds later several Wood Ducks flew down from their roost in the trees and more squirrels joined them. The lake was thick with fog at Bird Point but you could still see the ducks either swimming or on the log resting. Dogwood Mountain had a lone raccoon at the feeder while a beautiful Blue Grosbeak and a couple of crows were enjoying their morning at Fossil Ridge. An Indigo Bunting and several Brown-headed Cowbirds were at the bird feeder on Turkey Hollow and a hawk (maybe red-shouldered) was in the trees for a few minutes before he flew down to ground and then just flew away. Bears started showing up a little later than usual this morning but finally made an appearance at a little after 7 on Dogwood Mountain and Upper Springs within a couple minutes of each other. At around 7:45 the little guy at Dogwood Mountain took off running scared and a couple minutes later another bigger cub came in and took his place. He was behind the feeder for quite a while before he finally came out for us all to see.
A few of the birds that were seen or heard today were White-eyed Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Carolina Wren, American Crows, Indigo Buntings, Northern Cardinals, Brown-headed Cowbirds, Mourning Doves, Chipping Sparrows, and Blue Grosbeak.
WooHoo!! Ok, it's not Monty but it's still a Timber Rattler and we got to watch her on the hunt most of the day on Upper Springs! She (according to football) will be dubbed Molly if she hangs around long enough.
Let's hope she stays for days! Good catch Sue!YOU WILL SEE ACTION!!! GUARANTEED!!! In the wee hours of the morning at Turkey Hollow there were several raccoons including Momma Raccoon and her 3 sweet babies enjoying the company of a couple of deer. Later in the morning, at almost 7 am there were bears at Hidden Pond, Fossil Ridge and Dogwood Mountain; deer at Deer Run and Turkey Hollow, and squirrels at several other cameras. Just a little while later there were 2 cubs at Fossil Ridge; one on each side of the feeder! They ate a few minutes then played for a minute then went back to eating. Awww...it's so nice to see them hanging out together again! At one point there was a female cardinal sitting on the feeder beside one of the cubs just sharing a bite to eat! One or the other of them has been in and out of Fossil Ridge most of the day.
Several different birds were on the bird feeder at Turkey Hollow today. One Brown-headed Cowbird had his feathers all fluffed out and looked like a big round ball of feathers! At one time or another today there were Indigo Buntings, Red-winged Blackbirds, Northern Cardinals, Chipping Sparrows and even the Mourning Doves and the Crows are finding their way to the feeder now.
What a sight at 6pm on Turkey Hollow: it was so quiet and serene watching several deer grazing in the field right along side some wild turkeys and several raccoons quietly eating or playing in and around the feeder. Now this is the life! On another note, if you like comedy and laughter you could have switched over to Upper Springs or Hidden Pond; they both had bears laying or sitting on the ground eating and one was scratch, scratch, scratching!
Or even still, you could have switched to Bird Point and had both laughter and serenity as you watched the Momma Raccoon with her 5 little babies trailing along behind her, playing in the water or bathing or whatever they were doing as the Wood Ducks rested quietly on the log in the water just a short distance away! No matter what you preferences, you're sure to find something on USeeWildlife.com!YOU WILL SEE ACTION!!! GUARANTEED!!! Early morning on Hidden Pond all congregated at one time were Mourning Doves, a Whitetail Buck, Wild Turkeys, Wood Ducks, and Squirrels; one squirrel was hanging off the side of the feeder like Spiderman! We also saw at other times on Hidden Pond this weekend, Bears, Crows, Raccoons, Blue Jays, and Cardinals. Wild turkeys were seen on Turkey Hollow and one of them was strutting; also seen there this weekend were Whitetail Deer, Raccoons, Squirrels, Mourning Doves, Indigo Buntings, Brown-headed Cowbirds, Red-winged Blackbirds, and Northern Cardinals. Lost Field had wild turkeys, Bears, Squirrels, Northern Cardinals, Blue Jays, Crows, and Raccoons. Fossil Ridge had Bears, Squirrels, Raccoons, Whitetail Deer, Blue Grosbeak, Crows and Northern Cardinals. Around 7pm Sunday evening I found there were two of the 2 year old cubs at the feeder!
